Sunsets

Last night the sky was absolutely gorgeous. Honestly, I've never seen the sky as amazing as it was last night. It was so cool. Half the sky was stormy with dark clouds, and the other half had clouds that had the sun shining through them. It was like two different personalities. The pretty clouds made me think about how good God is, and the storm clouds made me think about how mighty and powerful he is at the same time. Sometimes we forget that the God who gave us baby Jesus, is also the God that struck Ananias and Sapphira dead.
I bet that God has a lot of fun creating the sunsets, making each one unique. The brilliant colors just leave me in awe.
I think that this verse says it all.
Psalm 113:3
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.

Well, goodnight everyone. And tomorrow, don't forget to thank God for his beautiful sunsets. Take time to enjoy life's simple pleasures. :D

God's Awesomeness

I was reading Job 11 this morning on the internet and some verses kind of stuck out to me.

7 "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
8 They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave —what can you know?
9 Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.
10 "If he comes along and confines you in prison and convenes a court, who can oppose him?
11 Surely he recognizes deceitful men; and when he sees evil, does he not take note?
12 But a witless man can no more become wise than a wild donkey's colt can be born a man. 13 "Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him,
14 if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent,
15 then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear.
16 You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by.
17 Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning.
18 You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.
19 You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.
20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp."

I really thought that this passage was cool especially verses 7-9. 7 "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
8 They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave—what can you know?
9 Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.

It talks about how infinitely mighty and strong God is, and how there is so much about him that we can't comprehend. I think that's cool.
I'm glad that we don't know everything about God, because if we did, I think our minds would explode with a knowledge overload.
Well, I have to go to my softball game now.
See Yah!

A Good Day

Yesterday was a good day. My mom and dad told us kids that they were going to run some errands, but when they got home we saw that they had a New Suburban!!!! :D (well, actually it is used, but it's new to us!) We all got in the "new" Suburban and went to get groceries as a family. My game was canceled that night because of the rain. I think that God did that so we could all spend the night as a family. It was our last night together before Dad left for Haiti.

We got home and Dad grilled, and we had a nice meal outside. Did anyone else notice how still it was last night? It was beautiful. "Gorgeous" as my Dad would say.

I really am proud of my dad for volunteering to go to Haiti. I'm sure that it will be a great experience. I just hope and pray that he gets there safely.

Lord, I just want to lift up the Haiti team. If it's your will, let them arrive there safely. Help them to show your love to the people they meet through their actions, as well as their words. Please keep everyone safe and healthy. And I want to pray for my dad specifically. Help him (as well as the other team members) to have the energy to perform the tasks that you have given him. Amen

Verse of the Day:
Mark 16:15
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Well, that seems to be a good conclusion for my post today.
Have a great day everyone!

Who Am I

I was listening to the song "Who Am I" by Casting Crowns yesterday. I've known this song for a long time, but I just recently started thinking about the lyrics. They are really cool.

"Who Am I"

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You're

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours

I also found a really cool video of this song on YouTube. It's pretty sweet. You can watch it by clicking on the title of this post.

I think that it's so incredible that God loves us. He expects perfection, but loves the people that can't live up to his expectations. We have no right to choose who we will love or who we will not, if God loves everyone unconditionally. We can show God that we love Him, by loving other people, because God is love.

Here's the verse for today:
Mark 12:33"To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

The Man Who Took Our Place

I was thinking about how Jesus took our place on the cross a while ago, and decided to write a little story about it. I hope that when you read it, it makes you think about how incredibly fortunate we are to have such an amazing God. A God that loves us so much that he would send his ONE and ONLY SON to DIE for US, and then RAISE him from the dead, so that we might spend eternity with him in heaven.

There I was, tied to my cross. I was paying the penalty for my sin. Death was the penalty. The soldier was positioning the nail, ready to pound it into my flesh. Just before he started hammering, I heard a voice say, "Stop! Let me take her place." I looked around to see who had spoken, and saw a man walk forward. He was not a wealthy man; his clothes were simple. He walked up to me and said to the soldiers, "Let me untie her." As he untied my hands and feet I asked, "Why are you doing this?" He said "Because I love you." He took my hand and helped me up. The soldier told him to take off his clothes and lay down on the cross. The man obeyed without a word. I asked again, "Sir, why are you doing this? You haven't done anything wrong." Again he said, "Because I love you." As soon as he said that, the soldier began pounding the nails into his wrists. All I could do was stand and watch. This man, whom I didn't even know, took my punishment for me. As I thought about what he did for me, tears streamed down my face. The man didn't even protest against the soldiers torturing him.

They now had finished nailing him to the cross, and were going to stand it up on the hill. I watched the soldiers cast lots for his clothes. People were calling him names and laughing at him. I just watched silently. I can't even describe my feelings at this moment. You just can't describe the feeling you get when someone dies in your place.

A little later, the man asked for a drink, and the soldiers gave him wine on a sponge. He drank what he could. The man looks so miserable now, struggling to take each breath. And then, he said his final words, "It is finished".

I watched the people go away, back to their homes. They were not even moved by what this man had done and went through. I slowly walked up to the hill where the cross was standing. I fell on my knees and cried, knowing that if this man had not come along, I would be the one on this cross, with my hands and feet nailed, and struggling to take each breath. I stayed at the hill for hours, mourning for this incredible man. I didn't even get a chance to get his name!

Three days later, I decided to go see the tomb of the man who died for me. When I arrived, I saw that the stone in front of the tomb had been rolled away. "Where is he?", I thought. I sat down by the tomb and cried. Then suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw that it was the man! I was overjoyed! "Sir, I thought you were dead!" I said. "Are you a ghost?" He answered, "I was dead, but I was arisen. I'm not a ghost. See? Look at the scars in my hands." "Sir, who are you? Why did you die in my place, when you were innocent?" I asked. "I'm Jesus, the Son of God." He said. "I died for you because I love you. I always have loved you, Mallory. I not only died for you, but for the whole world. You can spend eternity with me in heaven because I died for you. Do you believe that?" He asked. "Yes, Sir. Yes I do." I said decidedly. "Then, come here Mallory." He said. I came to him. He held me and said, "Your sins have been washed away." And then he held me and said "I've always loved you Mallory, and I always will."

Jesus really did take our place on the cross. We all deserve to die because the penalty of sin is death. Since we all are sinners, we all deserve to spend eternity in hell. BUT, because of Jesus we don't have to. We just have to believe that Jesus died for us.

I think that this is absolutely amazing!!!! Words can't describe how awesome it is.

Thanks God for sending your son, Jesus, to die for us, and for raising him from the dead.

Verses for the Day:

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

My First Post

I've had a few people recommend blogging to me, so I decided to give it a try. I'm still getting used to how everything works, so if you're reading this just bear with me ;P.

Today I had an ortho appointment. I found out that I only have to have my wires changed a few more times till I get my braces off all together :D. I think that I've kind of gotten attached to them though. I'll be sad to see them go :(. Sorry, enough about my metal mouth :).
Today I also was supposed to have a softball game in Le mars, but the weather didn't cooperate. That's okay with me though. I was able to have a free night at home with my family :D.

Well, I guess I better go. I have Driver's Ed in the morning.

Verse for the night:

Psalms 55:22 "Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken."
